Controller
Meridian is growing and is excited to add a full-time, permanent Controller position to its accounting team.

This position will be housed at our main office in the stunning Nexus Building in downtown Saskatoon.

The Role’s Purpose

The Controller will contribute to the accurate financial reporting of Meridian’s projects and operations so its stakeholders can effectively manage the business and make the best decisions to ensure continued success.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Meridian’s internal controls
  • Provide financial analysis and interpretation of internal reports to projects team
  • Work closely with the projects team in the development of budgets and make improvements in the overall budgeting process
  • Track project costs by subcontractors based on contract requirements and rectify any issues
  • Ensure invoices are aligned with contractual agreements and interact with suppliers to resolve any issues
  • Ensure the timely processing of all invoices and payments
  • Ensure proper reporting and compliance with all regulatory authorities
  • Understand the full cycle accounting process in order to provide assistance as needed
  • Other administrative duties as required

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting
  • Completion or active pursuit of a CPA designation
  • Experience working in the construction industry or in public practice is an asset
  • Knowledge of interprovincial tax regulations
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

Project Manager
Responsible for a project's performance, including quality, budget, schedule, safety and owner satisfaction.

Meridian is growing and is excited to add a full-time, permanent Project Manager position to its projects team.  This position will be housed at our main office in the stunning Nexus Building in downtown Saskatoon.

The Role’s Purpose

The Project Manager is responsible to help us sweat the details while fostering creativity and innovation in the planning and execution of our commercial construction projects. The Project Manager will be responsible for a project’s performance, including safety, quality, budget, schedule and owner satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

Responsible to Manage Project Documentation:

  • Control, review and distribution of drawings
  • Review and recommend change orders to management
  • Ensure shop drawings are received, approved and circulated
  • Manage RFIs and SIs
  • Draft, update and report the project schedule weekly
  • Review building permits and codes
  • Ensure all quality control inspections are passing and provide reporting
  • Coordinate and review turnover documentation
  • Follow-up and report on miscellaneous items

Safety:

  • Ensure the safety program is being adhered to on projects
  • Review safety procedures and initiate hazard assessments for major work phases of projects
  • Ensure the safety of trades on site while making site visits

Estimating & Procurement:

  • Manage RFQ process to produce budget and construction plan
  • Coordinate the on-time procurement of materials on site
  • Assist with takeoffs from drawings
  • Material takeoffs, quoting, ordering
  • Prepare, send out and follow up on price quotes
  • Order material and services aligned to approved budget
  • Ensure timely delivery schedule of materials for all trades
  • Obtain packing slips from site to check against actual orders received
  • Manage and produce clarifications and scope of work for subcontractors and suppliers

Manage Project Work, Subcontractors and Suppliers:

  • Ensure work to scope, drawings and specifications
  • Manage subcontract schedules
  • Work with Site Superintendent to ensure proper execution of work on site
  • Ensure all items required for occupancy

Budget Management:

  • Review invoices and ensure progress matches site work
  • Participate in pre-construction budget discussions
  • Review monthly budget and provide projections for any changes to cost to complete for approval
  • Ensure construction costs are aligned with the budget and proactively raise concerns
  • Manage price requests and scope changes

What You’ll Need

  • Project Management experience in the construction industry
  • Engineering degree or technical diploma
  • Experience in the construction industry 5-10 years
  • Previous experience in scheduling, planning, forecasting and job costing
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office, PDF editors, Project Management software
