Accountant
This position will be housed at our main office in the stunning Nexus Building in downtown Saskatoon

Meridian is growing and we are excited to add a full-time, permanent Accountant position to our Accounting/Finance team. This position will be housed at our main office in the stunning Nexus Building in downtown Saskatoon.

The Role’s Purpose
The Accountant will oversee project activity to ensure costs are recorded correctly, invoices are processed and paid on a timely basis, and the resulting reporting is beneficial to management and the projects team.

What You'll Do

Budget

  • Provide feedback on current budgets
  • Ensure invoices are properly recorded and in alignment with budget

 

Accounts Payable

  • Prepare supplier and subcontractor invoices for processing
  • Ensure accuracy of invoices
  • Ensure supplier and subcontractor invoices are paid in a timely fashion
  • Ensure money is properly held back for additional work summaries
  • Review, troubleshoot, and assist subcontractors and suppliers with submitting invoices

 

Accounts Receivable

  • Generate accurate monthly progress billings for active projects
  • Present monthly budget reviews to Management and Projects Team

 

Financial Reporting

  • Report to Projects Teams on actual project costs compared to project budget
  • Implement changes to the monthly reporting as directed by the Projects Team

 

Change Orders

  • Accurately track project contractual agreements and change orders accordingly

 

Compliance

  • Ensure Meridian is compliant with all regulatory requirements
  • Ensure statutory declarations are correct and complete
  • Ensure certificate of substantial completion is completed and in accordance with the subcontract

What You'll Need

  • Accounting experience working in the construction industry for 2-3 years is an asset
  • Knowledge of government requirements within the construction industry
  • Accounting diploma/certificate, Bachelor of Commerce degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
  • Experience working with general accounting principles and contractual agreements

Carpenter
3rd/4th Year

3rd or 4th year carpenter with lead hand experience in commercial and multifamily residential construction .

Knowledge of Blueprints, Layout experience required.

Other assets to have but not required:

-          proficient in operating skid steer/telehandler/aerial work platform

-          Leadership for Safety Excellence

-          First Aid

-           WHMIS

Project Manager
Responsible for a project's performance, including quality, budget, schedule, safety and owner satisfaction.

Your Purpose

The purpose of a Meridian Project Manager is to sweat the details while fostering creativity and innovation in the planning and execution of unique construction projects. As a project manager, you will play an essential role in continuing to challenge conventional ways to build in order to further differentiate Meridian from the competition.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will have an integral role in the careful planning and flawless execution of projects, while continually supporting ongoing initiatives for innovation and improvement. You will create and manage project schedules and budgets. You’ll bring your creative ideas and strong technical skills to the design process. You will leverage your experience to solve problems and ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of quality. You’ll lead the bidding process and utilize your negotiating skills to create a positive financial impact on projects. You will foster a culture of safety and ensure it is instilled into all involved in Meridian projects. 

How You'll Succeed

You have a deep seated passion for the construction industry. You have the ability to lead your team and external partners with a strong sense of values and clear communication as you work towards a common goal. You challenge the status quo and empower yourself and others to think outside the box. You have a strong attention to detail. You take initiative in identifying problems before they happen and find solutions that keep projects on schedule and under budget.

What You'll Need

  • Proven experience managing large scale projects
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders on a project
  • Strong knowledge of the construction industry
  • Ability to interpret blueprints
  • Thorough understanding of building code requirements
  • Hands-on experience in the construction industry is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction software
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree or Technical Diploma is an asset
  • Design, Engineering or estimating experience
